Fit, Grit, and Time to Quit

Fit, Grit, and Time to Quit...the 3 stages of a marriage. Here's hoping you never get to third stage.

I was married for 27 years and checked all 3 of these boxes.

✔️There were 18 years where it was a Fit.
We were supporting each other and our lives and goals were in sync.

💪Then came the time of Grit.
A life changing hospitalization for me, a promotion into a demanding job for her. Kids getting older. We were living separate lives but hanging on.

🚫Then, sadly it was Time to Quit.
I didn't want to be a quitter especially when my identity was rooted in who I was as a father. As someone who was always there.

Years later, I am still working on not wanting to be a quitter, but as Susan David, Ph.D. writes

"There’s nothing admirable about working doggedly toward a goal that no longer matters to you, and there’s nothing shameful about reevaluating your path."

I've learned the hard way, and when it's time for you to Quit, you can find me and I will help you build a new life, strong and free after divorce.
