Bleedin for Things You Never Needed

Today's wisdom from a COUNTRY SONG...is why are you still bleedin' for things you ain't needin'?

This brilliant song written by Grace Potter features the powerful lines:

"I wish I could have seen through your eyes

Maybe then I would have realized

I'm the only one who's bleeding

For the things I never needed"

What did I learn from this song?

  • I was clinging to things that don't matter - like job titles, luxury suites, cars, and homes. My work weeks were long and I was bleeding for things I never needed.

  • I didn't want to be the one to let people down but I was just running myself around. By not taking care of myself, I wasn't able to be present for the people in my life that mattered the most.

  • It was time to take long hard look at myself. I was frustrated at work and sad, scared, and alone in my marriage and I was not doing a thing about it.

I got my self straightened out one choice at a time. I chose what mattered to me - physical health, mental health, and family - and I started bleeding (or sweating, or crying) for the things I really needed.

Grace Potter may have felt like she was the only one, but I know you might be bleeding, too.

What are the things you really need?

P.S. - give Grace a listen, you won't be disappointed.
